Meet two of Faheem’s esteemed GIA colleagues (2017): Amira Al Saeg, from Van Cleef & Arpels (currently with Messika-Paris), and Amir Kefayati, a university lecturer positioned alongside Faheem in the elite GIA Intensive Grading Division.

At Buraq Diamonds, our expertise begins with the world’s gold standard in gemology. The Gemological Institute of America (GIA), having worked within GIA’s laboratories in New York (2011) and Dubai (2017)

Before exploring our collection, we warmly invite you to watch the GIA video above. It offers the simplest, most beautiful way to understand the foundation of diamond grading. Yet, a true diamond holds secrets beyond the famous 4Cs. Below, our master diamantaire, Faheem, shares his essential guide from the cutting desk, assisting you to see past the numbers, ensure a true like-for-like comparison on price, and select your diamond or gemstone.

THE DIAMANTAIRES CHOICE, BEYOND THE 4C'S

Diamonds can look identical on paper, yet one exudes far more light and brilliance. Always look for the life and fire inside the gem. When comparing prices, ensure you are weighing apples to apples. Small details in cut and proportions make all the difference in real beauty. Choose stones certified by globally trusted authorities like GIA, so you can buy with peace of mind.

While certificates are important, a true diamond holds secrets beyond the famous 4Cs. Below, Faheem shares his essential insights, guiding you to look deeper, compare true apples to apples on price, and choose a gem that becomes your crown jewel.

CLARITY

CUT

CERTIFICATE

While Cut gives a diamond its fire, Clarity gives a diamond its purity.

Formed deep within the earth under extreme heat and pressure, almost every natural diamond carries tiny birthmarks known as inclusions. Clarity simply measures how clear and free of these natural imperfections a stone truly is.

The Secret to Clarity: The "Eye-Clean" Standard

Nature’s Fingerprint: Microscopic inclusions are proof of a natural diamond’s organic creation. The key is choosing a stone where these birthmarks never compromise its structural integrity or visual beauty.

Eye-Clean Purity: You do not need a flawless certificate to own a visually perfect stone. An "eye-clean" diamond means its tiny birthmarks are completely invisible to the naked human eye without magnification.

Smart Value: Buying a diamond rated VS1, VS2, or eye-clean SI1 (pending the position) gives you the exact same visual purity as a flawless diamond, allowing you to invest your budget where it matters most, Cut and Carat.

"Clarity is not about chasing invisible perfection on paper; it is about finding a stone of pure, uninterrupted light."

Thank you for taking the time to explore this guide. Investing in a diamond is an extraordinary moment, and empowering you with genuine knowledge is at the core of everything we do at Buraq Diamonds.

Before making your final selection, there is one non-negotiable step, ensuring your stone carries an independent GIA Grading Report (alongside other reputable labs such as Gubelin, SSEF, HRD & Lotus Gem Labs).

The Digital Asset Passport

Think of a GIA certificate as your diamond’s official passport or ID card. It provides absolute, unalterable proof of its origin, authenticity, and exact gemological characteristics.

Digital Verification: Every GIA-certified diamond holds a unique micro-laser-inscribed serial number on its girdle. Instant Validation & Authentication: You can independently verify your stone at any time by entering this number directly into the official GIA Report Check website. Budget Alignment, This degree of transparency ensures that every dollar you invest directly matches the certified quality, cut, and rarity of the gem you receive with zero guesswork. Below we have shared an example of a certified diamond and the inscription number.

"A certificate does not just state value; it provides consistent expert evaluation, absolute authenticity, and peace of mind."

When it comes to how a diamond looks in real life, Cut is King. It is the single most important factor out of all the 4Cs because it directly controls how much your diamond sparkles. When a diamond bursts into a symphony of light, it is not by chance; it is the signature of absolute perfection.

Having analysed some of the world’s most magnificent diamonds within the GIA NYC Laboratory since 2011, we came to understand why legendary global jewellery houses command their prestigious standing. Beyond the traditional 4Cs, the true soul of a diamond lies in its Cut.

Why Cut Matters MOST!

If you take a diamond with low colour (slightly yellow) or low clarity (tiny natural flaws inside) and give it an ideal or excellent cut, something amazing happens.

Cut Hides Flaws (Clarity):

An exceptionally cut diamond acts like a mirror maze. Light enters, bounces everywhere inside, and shoots back out to your eye in millions of tiny flashes of light. This intense sparkle creates a "blinding" effect that hides minor internal flaws from the naked eye.

Cut Brightens Colour:

Because an ideal cut returns maximum white light straight back up through the top of the stone, it masks faint yellow or warm tones, making the diamond look significantly whiter than its official grade suggests.

When proportions are executed to absolute perfection, light does not simply pass through the stone; it enters, bouncing 360 degrees internally through a labyrinth of facets, and erupts into a vivid display of fire, brilliance, and scintillation. It is this rare optical harmony that catches the eye.

To verify your diamond, simply click the GIA link below and enter the serial number provided by Buraq Diamonds.

For complete peace of mind, every client receives a high-resolution microscopic photograph of their exact stone prior to setting. This ensures the diamond you fall in love with on paper is precisely the diamond set within your fine jewellery verified, authenticated, and uniquely yours.

Diamond fluorescence is a natural phenomenon where a stone reacts under ultraviolet light, a trait found in about 30% of natural diamonds, typically as a soft blue glow. While historically viewed with scepticism, research by the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) confirms that mild to moderate fluorescence has no visible impact under normal lighting and can even help lower colour grades appear whiter in daylight.

However, in higher grade stones, very strong fluorescence can occasionally cause a subtle, hazy or cloudy appearance known in the industry as an "overblue" effect. Because of this potential impact on clarity and visual appeal, we evaluate fluorescence carefully to ensure every diamond maintains optimum brilliance.
